Obituaries Allen Cardwell af 30 Was Medford Fireman tt TJ Robert Rossen 57 Writer Director 1- Lake Ronkonkoma Funeral services will be held Monday for Allen Cardwell 30 a Medford fireman who was killed in a two-car collision early yesterday Cardwell of 3016 Sipp Ave Medford was killed at 1:40 AM yesterday on Jcr- icho Turnpike in Smith town after police said he tried to cross the street to join his wife and a friend Police said he was pinned between an eastbound car and another car that was backing into the eastbound lane and were involved in a collision The driver of the eastbound car was identified as Ruth Parker 26 of 52 Oak St Smithtown The driver of the other car was identified as Paul Napoli 29 of 1 Robin Hill PI Brentwood He was issued a summons for failing to yield the right-of-way Cardwell was a member of the Medford Fire Department and the Eagle Estates Civic Association He is survived by his wife Florence: a daughter Tanya his Pirents and five brothers and five grandson of a rabbi and the nephew of a Hebrew poet was bom and raised on New York's Lower East Side Rossen' work as a writer in the early 1940s included such screenplays as "A Walk in the Sun" one of the best combat movies of World War II Sea Wolf" based on the Jack London novel "The Roaring and of He launched his career as a director in 1947 with the film which helped establish the late Dick
