Spring Spurs Engagements; Many List Wedding Dates The engagement of Miss Doris Caple, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Caple of Claurome Place, Freeport, to Warren F. Scholl son of Mr. and Mrs.

Warren F. Scholl of 62 Westfield Roosevelt, has been announced. The couple is planning a September wedding, after which they will make their home in Massa- Hawley-Gimmestad The engagement of Miss Florence Gimmestad, daughter of Mr. James Gimmestad of 333 Wellington Road, Mineola, and the late Mrs. Gimmestad, and Sgt.

Edward J. Hawley, USA, son of Mrs. Martha Hawley of 444 Emory Road, Mineola, has been announced. Miss Gimmestad, a graduate of Mineola High School, is employed at the Herricks School, New Hyde Park. Sgt.

Hawley, also 8 graduate of Mineola High School, served three years with the Counter Intelligence, and is now stationed at Ft. Devins, Mass. Grimes-Burnago The engagement of Miss Barbara Burnago, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Burnago of 126 Terrace Hempstead, to James Grimes was announced recently at a dinner party for 100 guests, given by the brothers-in-law and sisters of the bride-to-be, Mr.

and Mrs. Homer Piakis of Hempstead, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parlarmis of Brooklyn. The party was held in the Paikis residence.

The Rev. George Papadeas of St. Paul Greek Catholic Church, Hempstead, officiated at a betrothal ceremony at the reception. Mr. Grimes, a resident of Hempstead, was resident of Mitilene, Greece, until five years ago.

The couple is planning a June wedding. Lando-Fagan The engagement of Miss Rita Frances Fagan to Cadet Midshipman Frederick Lando, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lando of 151 Malverne Malverne, has been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Thomas Fagan of 71 Scarcliffe Drive, Malverne. Miss Fagan is a graduate of Hempstead High School and is employed in the accounting department of the New York Telephone Hempstead. Cadet Lando is a gradaute of Malverne High School and is attending the New York State Maritime College, Fort Schuylier, class of June, 1953. Giannattasio-Boriotti Mr. and Mrs.

Louis Boriotti of Port Washington have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Ann Boriotti, to Frank Giannattasio, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Giannattasio of Paterson, N.J.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Port Washington High School and Adelphi College, Garden City. She is a therapeutic dietician in St. Vincent's Hospital, New York City. Mr. Giannattasio is a graduate of Seton Hall University, East Orange, N.J., and received his master's degree from New York University, in physical therapy.

A licensed therapist, he is associated with the rehabilitation department in St. Vincent's Hospital. Bonnano-Terlizzi The engagement of Miss Marie Terlizzi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Terlizzi of North Merrick, to Frank Bonnano, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Angelo Bannano of Bronx, was announced at a party for 70 guests in the Terlizzi residence on April 12. The bride-elect is an employe of the New York Telephone Hempstead. Her fiance is employed with the South Shore Plumbing and Heating North Merrick, and expects to be inducted into the Armed Forces shortly, Smith-Sofield Mr. and Mrs.

Verner V. Sofield of 762 Lincoln Boulevard, Long Beach, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Ann Elizabeth Sofield, 10 Edward C. Smith son of Mr. and Mrs. Smith of Long Beach.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Long Beach High School and is employed as a medical stenographer at Meadowbrook Hospital, East Meadow. Her fiance is completing his four-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy, and has recently returned from Korea. He is stationed in Newport, R.I. Dougherty-Byrne Mr.

and Mrs. Edwin Joseph Byrne of 139 Carman East Rockaway, have announced the engagement of Mr. Byrne's daughter, Miss Elizabeth Jane Byrne, to John Augustine Dougherty son of John A. Dougherty of 75 Centre Lynbrook, and the late Mrs. Dougherty.

The bride-elect is a graduate of the Academy of St. Joseph, Brentwood, and Georgian Court College, Lakewood, N.J. She is studying for her master's degree in education at New Paltz State Teachers College and is on the faculty of the Abbey Lane School, Levittown. Her fiance was graduated from East Rockaway High School and St. Francis College, Brooklyn.

Navy, where he served for three years, and is employed in the U.S. Post Office, Roslyn. The wedding is planned for October. Johnson of Manhasset. Miss Voltman is a graduate of Manhasset High School and is attending Centenary Junior College, Hackettstown, N.J. Her fiance attended Oakwood School, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and was graduated from Manhasset High School. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, is now attending Hofstra College, and is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Dubin-Canner Mr.

and Mrs. Joseph Canner of 24 Ravine Glen Cove, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Mitzi Canner, to Howard Dubin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Dubin of Long Beach. Miss Canner is a student at Syracuse University, where she is specializing in merchandising.

Mr. Dubin, who expects to be graduated from Syracuse in June, is majoring in business administration. He has been commissioned an ensign in the Navy and will report for duty in July. No date has been set for the wedding. Newton-Zimmerlein Mr.

and Mrs. Harold P. Newton of New York City, Bradenton, and Sag Harbor. The bride-elect is a graduate of Cherry Valley High School, Garden City, and is a junior at the University of Rochester, N.Y., where she is a member of Gamma Phi sorority. Lt.

Newton attended the University of Florida, Gainesville, and is a member of Delta Tau Delta. A radar observer, he is completing jet fighter training at Tyndall Airforce Base. Fla. Rabena-Mazzio The engagement of Miss Florence Mazzio, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Samuel Mazzio of 52 Seventh Garden City Park, to Stephen Rabena, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mario Rabena of 20 Atherton Elmont, has been announced. Miss Mazzio is a graduate of Girls High School, Brooklyn, and is employed by Classic Plastics, Garden City Park. Her fiance is a graduate of Sewanhaka High School and is employed with Republic Aviation Farmingdale.

He is a veteran of three years service in the U.S. Navy. A Fall wedding is planned. Guadagni-Brown Mrs. Irene K.

Welden of Glen Cote has nounced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Eileen Brown, to Louis Guadagni, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Guadagni of Glen Cove. The bride-elect is a graduate of Glen Cove High School, and is employed with the Long Island Lighting Mineola. Her fiance is also a graduate of Glen Cove High School and is employed in the Super Market, Glen Cove.
